Refract: Blackbird
Coloured one by one, only to fall apart,
pines and balsams have thrown out all
their hundred grievances.
The forest suddenly rains
mix of noble fir, incense, cedar;
a specific wind visits with a breath.
Red-winged blackbird
rises uneasily from the forest-floor
with a wreath of thin-walled nuts.
Buttercups paint the gold off a nest.
Horseflies shoo people back
from yellow cloud banks,
clearing and refusing the area.
Coloured one by one, only to fall apart.
