Between
Fluidly moves the lycanthrope
into and through the
golden air of
my dream.
Not one speck
of this glowing landscape
stirs
with the slightest
hint
of a breath.
The diptych is painted with heavy flecks
luxurious layers
as thick as tinted flesh
from a long-abandoned brush.
RIGHT Here there is a mazy forest filled with crazy shades. The tangled
PANEL branches of trees that have no name. In the lozenges between them
you can see the shapes of turrets and façade. Angular stonework
stilled in the light of a dying day.
LEFT Here the woods give way to an open plain; it rolls toward the line of
PANEL the sky. The earth in the distance is almost black where it touches the
fading intensity of early evening air. Above, and far away, two tiny
silver points of light, and the plate of the moon, engraved.
But only the werewolf moves –
emerges now
from the shadows beneath the trees.
Its muscular limbs, covered with
delicate jewel-like fur, are
graceful as a waterfall.
See how its body
flows
across the space, from
right to left,
and does not disappear.
